Popular bets

Below are some popular bets explained. The amount staked and trap numbers are examples only. Please choose your own stake and your own trap numbers. For further information on gambling visit the GamCare website.

Win
This is a single bet requiring you to nominate the winning greyhound.
Ask for: Win - Trap Number - Stake, e.g. Win - Trap 3 - £1
Total investment £1.00.

Place
This is the simplest bet of all and requires you to nominate the greyhound which finishes either 1st or 2nd.
Ask for: Place - Trap Number - Stake, e.g. Place - Trap 6 - £1
Total investment £1.00.

Each Way
This is two bets, a Win bet and a Place bet, on the same greyhound. If your selection wins, you will receive one Win dividend (from the Win pool) and one Place dividend (from the Place pool). If your selection comes second, you will receive the Place dividend only.
Ask for: Each Way - Trap Number - Stake, e.g. Each Way - Trap 1 - £1
Total investment £1.00.

Forecast
This bet requires you to nominate the two greyhounds to finish 1st and 2nd, in the correct order.
Ask for: Forecast - Trap Numbers - Stake, e.g. Forecast - Traps 2 & 5 - £1
Total investment £1.00.

'Reverse' Forecast
This is effectively two bets, requiring your two selected greyhounds to finish 1st, and 2nd, in either order.
Ask for: Reverse Forecast - Trap Numbers - Stake e.g. Reverse
Forecast - Traps 1 & 4 - £1
Total investment £2.00 (i.e. 2 bets).

Trio
This bet requires you to nominate the three greyhounds to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd, in the correct order.
Ask for: Trio - Trap Numbers - Stake,
e.g. Trio - Traps 2,4 & 6 - £1
Total investment £1.00.

‘All Ways’ Trio
This is actually six bets, requiring your chosen three greyhounds to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd, in any order.
Ask for: All Ways Trio - Trap Numbers - Stake e.g. All Ways Trio -
Traps 1,3 & 5 - 50p
Total investment £3.00 (i.e. 6 bets).

Lucky dip
If you are not sure which Trap or Traps to choose, trust to ‘Lady Luck’.
Ask for: Type of bet (see above) - Lucky Dip - Stake e.g.
Trio - Lucky Dip - £1
Total investment £1.00.
